The airport is literally on top of Coolangatta. Walk out of arrivals, step into a MyGoldCoastLimo vehicle, and you’re already there: five minutes from the beach, the salt air doing its job before your bags even hit the boot. This is the Gold Coast’s southern gateway, and it’s one of the most satisfying airport pick-ups we do.
Coolangatta, Tweed Heads, and the Kingscliff stretch of New South Wales coastline form a corridor that rewards those who know how to move through it properly. We do. Whether you need a seamless airport transfer, a group run to Twin Towns Services Club, or a long coastal drive south to Byron Bay, My Gold Coast Limo covers the full corridor with vehicles and chauffeurs calibrated for this end of the coast.

Getting Here: Key Routes and Drive Times
- Gold Coast Airport (OOL) to Coolangatta: Five to ten minutes. The airport sits directly above the suburb. Quite possibly the shortest luxury transfer on the Australian east coast.
- Coolangatta to Surfers Paradise: Approximately 30 to 35 minutes via the Gold Coast Highway through Palm Beach, Burleigh, and Miami. Take the coastal option and you’ll barely notice the time passing. More about airport transfers.
- Tweed Heads to Gold Coast Airport: Approximately 10 to 15 minutes via Griffith Street and the Tweed Valley Way. Early morning departures: sorted.
- Kingscliff to Gold Coast Airport: Approximately 20 to 25 minutes. A popular run for the Kingscliff resort and Salt Village community.
- Coolangatta to Byron Bay: Approximately 55 to 65 minutes via the Pacific Highway. We cover the full Northern NSW corridor, border crossing included.
- Tweed Heads to Brisbane CBD: Approximately 90 to 100 minutes via the Pacific Motorway.
The Destinations Worth Knowing
This stretch of coastline packs more in than most visitors expect. Our drivers service all of it regularly.
- Coolangatta Beach and Rainbow Bay: Two of the best surf beaches in South-East Queensland, loved equally by international visitors and dedicated locals who’ve been coming for decades.
- Point Danger Lighthouse: The headland that marks the NSW-Queensland border, with 270-degree coastal views that put every other Gold Coast lookout to shame.
- Twin Towns Services Club: A major entertainment and events venue straddling the state border in Tweed Heads, with regular concerts and dining that draws guests from both sides.
- Greenmount Beach and the Coolangatta Hotel strip: The social heart of Coolangatta, perfect for late afternoon dining and watching the surf from a beer garden.
- Salt Village, Kingscliff: A boutique village precinct known for its artisan food scene and relaxed coastal atmosphere. Popular with the weekender crowd, and deservedly so.
- Cabarita Beach: Quieter, more residential, increasingly sought after. The kind of beach town you end up moving to.
- Tweed Mall and Tweed River Art Gallery: The commercial and cultural anchors on the NSW side of the border.
- Fingal Head: A basalt headland with a scenic lighthouse and some of the most photogenic coastal walking in the region.
The Scenic Drive South: A Route Worth Taking
One of Australia’s most quietly spectacular coastal drives runs from Coolangatta south to Byron Bay via Kingscliff, Cabarita, Pottsville, and Ballina. Cane fields give way to glimpses of the ocean. Small towns flash past with bakeries worth stopping at (though we won’t – we’re on a schedule). Ask about a detour when you book.
Heading north from the airport, the coastal route up through Kirra, Palm Beach, and Burleigh Heads gives visiting guests a proper first look at the Gold Coast strip before they arrive at their hotel. It’s fifteen minutes longer than the motorway. Worth every second. Check with the driver on the day if it’s possible, or request it on booking.

Cross-Border Transfers: No Complications
The Queensland-NSW border runs right through the middle of Tweed Heads. For travellers, it’s largely invisible. For transport operators, it requires the right authorisation. My Gold Coast Limo is fully licensed for cross-border passenger transfers, which makes us the logical choice for anyone heading between Kingscliff resorts and Gold Coast Airport, or making the run from Coolangatta down to Byron Bay. One operator, both sides of the border. No need to change cars at the Welcome to NSW sign.
